After the intense year of 2020 COVID anxiety, I decided that 2021 was going to be the year that I spend serious time in the saddle.

On the agenda for the end of this year is tackling White Rim in a day, solo and unsupported. I wanted to know if I could ride that long (shooting for under 15 hours) and needed some events for training.

12 Hours of Mesa Verde fit the bill and it’s my first 12-hour event of any kind. I managed to make it 10:30 before my wrists gave out, good enough for 24th of 49 in Solo Men.

I learned a lot and now I’m positive that I am capable of completing White Rim as long as I don’t have another mechanical problem like I did at the end of 2020.
